4AI Systems’ Company Director, Derel Wust presented at Railway Age’s Next-Gen Train Control (NGTC) Conference held in Baltimore from 17-18 October on the ‘Practical Uses of AI in Rail’. The subject covered our experiences in developing the safety case for functional safety assessment for our Horus and EN4CER system, which is currently underway in Australia for a mainline operation.
This year, the conference program aimed to build on the exploration of the fast-growing new technologies used to enhance rail operational efficiency and safety. Presentations from industry peers offered in-depth technical information and comprehensive updates projects, with Andy Byford’s keynote session an engaging way to commence the program.

The well-attended annual conference is a key US event for communications and signalling and advanced technologies, attracting senior leaders primarily from major Metropolitain Transport Authorities in North America. The interest in 4AI Systems was evident from the Q&A following our presentation, as well as the delegates who approached the team over the two days.
Thank you to the organisers at Railway Age and Parsons for producing such a high-quality event. Find out more about Next-Gen.
