The team from 4Tel and 4AI Systems Inc were honoured to receive a trophy for our ongoing support of the NUbots as platinum sponsors at their successful Night of Robots, hosted at the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus on 21 November.
The event provided the opportunity for the NUbots team to showcase the robots in action and share their latest projects and cutting-edge research to a crowd of over 40 attendees, including team members, alumni, staff, students, and industry representatives.
“We thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone there to celebrate the NUbots impressive accomplishments, everyone past and present who supports the team, and robotics in general,” said Dr Aaron Wong, who received the 2023 Alumni Award for Outstanding Volunteerism from the University of Newcastle for his contribution to robotics education.
A special thank you to Professor Stephan Chalup, who works in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Newcastle, and Ysobel Sims, Computer Science PhD student and NUbots senior team member, for driving our continued partnership to connect students and industry and develop new talent in the field of robotics.
Thank you to our 4Tel and 4AI Systems team members who dedicate their time to help mentor the NUbots, in particular Dr Aaron Wong, who closed out the evening, and Dr Trent Houliston and Alana Noonan, who accepted the trophies on behalf of our companies.
We are proud of our team members – Liam Craft, Angie Herfel, Johanne Montano, and Jesse Williamson – for their insightful student research presentations, and Tom O’Brien for his contributions as NUbots Team Leader throughout the year.
We look forward to seeing what 2025 brings for this talented NUbots team!
