4Tel celebrates one year since commissioning its new product eTAP-Operations into operational service to support work on track activities across 4000Km of ARTC track. eTAP Operations empowers network controllers to monitor and manage daily train and work on track operations in a simplified and unified display.

eTAP-Operations was initially commissioned on July 2022, and deployed in ARTC control centres in Junee and Broadmeadow in NSW, and Mile End in South Australia. In its first 12 months of operations, eTAP-Operations has managed over 55,500 work-on-track methods including:

  • 29,000 Work in Corridor (WIC)
  • 16,500 Track Occupancy Authorities (TOA)
  • 10,000 Lookout Working (LOW)

eTAP-Operations also manages 2,300 Protection Officers (POs) accounts which is linked to their Rail Industry Workers accreditation. This ensures that POs can only be issued work types for which they are currently trained and certified for – a feature which was not previously possible with administrative processes.

The support for eTAP-Operations is also evident with additional new features added to the systems functionality over the past 12 months. These features include:

  • Corridor Access Approval (CAA) integration from the ARTC Ellipse system
  • Condition Affecting Network (CAN) Form
  • Special Proceed Authority (SPA) Form
  • Infrastructure Booking Authority (IBA) Form

The system has received positive support, which for a new product from its initial implementation is a significant achievement. The success of the first year is just the beginning with more features being deployed in late 2023.

4AMS is the 4Tel proprietary software and eTAP-Operations is the ARTC configured version of this software.  4AMS software is a modern web-browser based, information system for the management of track occupation information. The system is uniquely configured to meet the needs of each rail network’s operational environment and needs. The graphical interface is dynamic and easy to use and has been extremely well-received by users.

4Tel has been delivering solutions to the rail industry since 2000. With over 23 trademarked software applications in client use, the team is well equipped to deliver solutions that support and enhance rail network management operations. 4Tel is a regional business supporting local jobs, with all work produced and supported in-house, making it 100% owned and operated.
